Simple Restart

Recently most students coming to Student Tech Help in the Media Center only need their laptop restarted to fix the issue.

The students in most cases are restarting the laptop with a hard reset which is holding down the power button till the laptop turns off.

A hard reset is not recommend unless the computer freezes or locks up completely meaning the keyboard and trackpad are not functioning.

Please share with student the below options to properly restart the laptop:

Restarting the laptop properly will allow the laptop to complete windows updates, close all applications, and have a fresh start to run faster.

Whether the student is logged into the computer or not:

  1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del
  2. Click the Power Button in the bottom right corner
  3. Click on “Restart”

When student is logged into the computer:

  1. Click on the Start Menu in the bottom right corner.
  2. Click on the Power Button
  3. Click on “Restart”
